Do you remember a pack of 52 only for the confounding probability problems you encountered in exams? Well for most people, playing Cards is the most happening activity while on a train journey, at a camping trip, or during those lazy summer afternoons. But have you ever wondered about the four bearded faces giving us the greatest joy on arrival in our hands?
'Cards' have been among us with different forms in different countries for well over 2000 years. It was surprisingly the French who standardized the most popular format containing a deck of 52 cards somewhere during late 16th century. And for representational purpose they picked the four most famous kings of past to adorn on the deck. King of Spades is King David of Israel from Bible King of Clubs is King Alexander of Macedonia from 4th century BC King of Hearts is King Charlemagne of France from 8th century AD
King of Diamond is King Augustus Caesar (Julius Caesar some believe), founder of Roman empire Over the centuries, all the four faces have come so closer to each other in appearance that they don't truly represent any one particular king anymore. But it's always fascinating to know the story behind something so commonplace, isn't it?
These are the things we never focus upon, but getting some
information about these is really very interesting
